Happy birthday Mirikai! On 17 December 2021, Lives Lived Well’s Burleigh Heads live-in recovery service celebrated 40 years of providing support to young people on the Gold Coast.

From humble beginnings as a small brick house nestled into Burleigh Hill, the service has grown to become a part of the fabric of support services in the region. Our staff have supported generations of young people to reach their full potential.

As part of the celebrations, Mirikai welcomed more than 60 people, along with current clients and staff, to gather on site and share in reflections and a cake-cutting ceremony. Special guests included the Member for Burleigh, Michael Hart, and the former CEO of Gold Coast Drug Council, Mary Alcorn, who was integral in starting the service.

The Yugambeh Aboriginal Dancers provided a powerful Welcome to Country and performed a number of culturally significant dances.

The atmosphere at Mirikai was one of celebration and gratitude – for everyone who has contributed to the service’s success.
