A place for the Veteran community to access wellbeing services and support in their local community.
Flexible support for Veterans and their families
Serving in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) or having a family member who is serving or has served is a unique and sometimes challenging experience.
Whether these challenges occur in service or through transition into civilian life, having access to the right supports when you need them can make a real difference to your health and wellbeing, and the wellbeing of your family.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) has appointed Lives Lived Well to lead the development of a new Veterans’ and Families’ Hub for South-East Queensland. Lives Lived Well is partnering with the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia (Queensland Branch) to establish the Hub.
Our proposal is to deliver a Veterans’ and Families’ Hub on Brisbane’s northside, with support services also provided from our hubs on the Gold Coast, Brisbane South and on the Darling Downs.
Accessible, integrated and flexible support
The new Veterans’ and Families’ Hub planned for South-East Queensland will host services that ensure Veterans and their families:
- experience innovative and flexible services that respond to their transition and ongoing needs;
- receive essential health and wellbeing services that are locally focused, accessible and well-co-ordinated;
- benefit from greater integration of government and non-government services.
The Hub will be a welcoming, non-judgemental and accessible space, supported by a team of skilled and experienced wellbeing staff. The Hub’s team will include people with lived experience of Veteran life, to ensure anyone accessing the Hub is supported in a safe and understanding way.
Wellbeing coordination will be available in-person, by phone and online to ensure flexibility and accessibility.
Lives Lived Well will be working in partnership with other Ex-Service Organisations and key agencies to help Veterans and their family members access services and support.
Having a lifeline like this Centre would just be amazing. Knowing that there’s someone you can speak to, that someone is in your corner, that you can talk about things with a person is absolutely amazing.
