Australian Winter School is coming again in 2019… stay tuned for details
The Australian Winter School conference is a great chance to learn, catch up with friends, meet new ones and network with colleagues from across Australia and even New Zealand.
As one past delegate said, the conference is ‘well delivered, passionate, with a focus on evidence based principles of recovery’.
Presented by QNADA in partnership with Lives Lived Well during the winter months, the next Australian Winter School conference is scheduled to be held in mid-2019.
About the Australian Winter School
Our history
The Australian Winter School was an initiative of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation Queensland, now known as Lives Lived Well.
Last year’s conference in 2017 marked its 30th year.
Our objective
The Australian Winter School provides high quality workforce and professional development for individuals who work in the alcohol and other drugs and mental health sectors. We aim to increase delegates’ level of knowledge and professional skills, present the most recent research, and demonstrate its relevance to those working in the alcohol and other drugs and mental health fields.
The conference aims to present best practice initiatives and interventions to respond to clients affected by alcohol and other drugs and mental health issues. The event provides numerous opportunities for professional networking, collaboration, discussion and debate.
Who attends
The Australian Winter School brings together alcohol and other drug workers, clinicians and specialists, health promotion and prevention staff, and researchers from the alcohol and other drug and mental health arena to focus on advancing knowledge and information-sharing about alcohol and drug misuse and mental health. It is designed for professionals working in the medical and allied health fields, education, law enforcement, crime prevention, corrections, policy and research, who are service providers or addressing issues associated with alcohol and other drugs and mental health. The Australian Winter School has an intersectoral focus to enhance networking and cross discipline understanding.
Organising committee
The Australian Winter School Organising Committee consists of voluntary membership from dedicated individuals across a range of professions and organisations. We are extremely grateful for their invaluable advice and assistance in putting together an insightful and thought provoking program each year.
