Youth Check

We’re here to make it easier for you to get the care you need, in a way that works for you.

Youth Check is a free health check service for young people aged 12 to 25 who are at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness in the Gold Coast region. A friendly, experienced Registered Nurse will provide physical, mental, and sexual health care in a safe, private, and youth-friendly setting.

We can meet you in a place that feels comfortable and convenient. Most health checks only need a private space, but if more complex care is required, we’ll use a treatment room. Above all, Youth Check is about choice, comfort, and privacy, ensuring every young person feels respected, supported, and heard.

What support can Youth Check provide?

Youth Check is here to provide friendly, confidential health support for young people aged 12 to 25 who are at risk of, or dealing with homelessness.

Our Registered Nurse can help with:

  • Sexual health – Private support and info.
  • Linking you up – Help finding a doctor or connecting with other services.
  • Working out the system – Support understanding and accessing health and social services.
  • Health info – Simple, useful info to help you take care of yourself.
  • Health education sessions – For local service providers.

How to access the service?

Where can you find Youth Check?

You can find us at headspace Southport on Mondays and Thursdays, and at headspace Upper Coomera on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. While we’re co-located with headspace, we’re a separate service – so you don’t need to be registered with headspace to see us.

Our spaces are youth-friendly, easy to get to, and you’re welcome to just drop in. If travelling is hard, we can also meet you somewhere that feels safe and convenient. Most checks only need a private space, though some more complex care might be done in a treatment room.
