Closing the Gap

We are committed to a series of targets within our Reconciliation Action Plan.

The plan means we are constantly working towards making a substantial and practical contribution towards “Closing the Gap” for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

We have done this by making a commitment to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander access to our services as well as increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed by Lives Lived Well.

Our key targets include:

  • building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Owners, Elders, community groups and services
  • exchanging cultural knowledge within Lives Lived Well
  • establishing a respectfully diverse workplace without barriers to employment or advancement.

Lives Lived Well was presented with the Michael Kirby Award for Inclusiveness at the 2013 Workforce Innovation Awards in recognition of our inclusive recruitment and training commitments at our Shanty Creek residential rehabilitation service.

Lives Lived Well recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original inhabitants of the land now known as Australia and their continuing connection to land, air and sea. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands across which we work and live, and pay our respects to elders, past and present.

Lives Lived Well celebrates diversity and is committed to providing inclusive services and workplaces. Everyone has the right to live well, with dignity and respect. We offer support to all people without judgement or discrimination.
